Hi there spondon owners I'm a classic motorcycle racer in Australia and have been wanting to build a period 6 unlimited(1983-1990) bike and I reakon the best motor for the job would be the zzr1100 but the handling? Now the rules of historic racing in Australia is that it has to be of the period, you can't go stuffing a zzr motor into a Zxr unless it was done and raced in the period. This has started my research into finding of anyone raced a zzr1100 or zx10 with an aftermarket frame, ala spondon Harris moto Martin, in the period 1983-1990. I was hoping that the spondon owners could help? Cheers. Dibbsy.

Not heard of anything, but then again someone might know better. Good luck with your search.

The question you need to ask is what "class" would they have raced a trick framed ZZR in?
Premier four stroke class;
UK/Europe F1 / F1 TT up to 1983 was 1000cc using stock or aftermarket chassis. F1 / F1 TT 1984 to 1987 was 750cc in stock or aftermarket chassis. F1 / F1TT after 1987 became "Superbike" and therefore a production based 750 class for 4cyl and a 1000cc for twins, so no special chassis. Era of the OW01, RC30, GSXR R etc.
The senior TT was limited to 1000cc
The IOMTT did run a "production" 1300cc class but dropped the class in 1990 resulting from carnage during their 1989 event, 1989 was not a good year.
Seem to remember that the mid to late 80's unlimited class's were production based. So struggling to think what class a trick framed ZZR would run in! It doesn't seem to fit in any class.
Guess 150hp of 1989 FZR1000 (or more CC's if at max re-bore) in a stock chassis with well sort suspension and brakes would scare the shite out of most humans.
