Been falling off bikes since I was 14. Built my 1st bike at 17; a 65 Triumph T120 which still lurks at the back of the workshop 33years later.
Currently got a few projects on the go starting with the oldest 1929 Harley Davidson JD, 1944 Indian Chief, a 1986 hi spec Spondon Co-axil with a 1260cc GSX lump in it (FOR SALE), Spondon Yamaha FZ750, a couple of Metisse framed bikes, a couple of featherbed specials, some Italian nightmares (Dramah and Lemon), 56 and 62 Manx's and the Bonny + some other weird stuff.
Would love to say they are all mine but no, I build for a living and loosing weight therefore. But it a great way to blow 70years.
Steve
PS hope this ends up on the right board!

Hi Steve, welcome to the forum, looks like you've been a busy man over the years! What style FZ frame is it, I have an FZR frame with a milled section where it bolts to the cylinder head, is yours like that or is it an earlier one? cheers, Steve Nick

Ours is the earlier type with the 4 bolt-on tubes and rose joint engine cradle/supports. Running gear; Usual rear Ohlins shock, Marzocchi M1R 41.7 forks in adjustable yokes up front. Spondon alloy clip-on and rearsets, Marvic 1st generation hollow spoke wheels 16x3.5 up front and 18 x5.5 rear. Brakes are Spondon floating rear disc and Brembo floating calliper, up front I have Spondon twin discs but they are knackered (can anyone help with replacements?) and magnesium 4 pot Brembo callipers braking area is about 50mm. Master cylinders are AP. Original alloy petrol tank and BEHR core radiator. Big oil cooler in the fairing too. Body work is all RS500 which gives the bike a low look and small frontal area.
Engine is now FZR1000 kicking out about 130hp so not too brutal with YEC kit carbs, YEC exhaust, cams and gearbox are YZF750 and the head is flowed. Using the earlier ignition box with the lower set rev limiter.
Have got an FZ750 engine on the bench but performance parts are rare and expensive so considering have piston sets and valves made. And perhaps rods.

Will do.....
No paint on the body work yet but I will paint the bike within the next 6 weeks as the bike will be at Stafford (International Classic Bike Show) in the GP paddock in April.
All you Spondon owners should get yourselves a show stand up there? Happy to plonk a bike on there with other Spondons!

Welcome Steve, I will be going to Stafford, so will look you up in the GP Paddock. That's the best bit to be in. Nearly lost my hearing in the GP Paddock at the October show when they got the Racebikes going!

ref the co ax;
Its a good spec bike, no damage at all to the frame and arm. motor is EFE tuned 1260, flowed with Yoshi cams. CR carbs. Dyna ignition, 16 and 18 dymags. Front discs are 320 AP floating with 4 pot Lockheed 1st generation callipers. Spondon rear disc and brembo caliper. Marzocchi M1Rs in Harris adjustable yokes, Ohlins rear shock, AP master cylinder up front, billet harris rear. Its got the full spondon body kit on still, including twin headlight fairing ugly but quirky!
The bike is sound just need a little TLC or rather some paint and a polish mechanically its sound and is way to good to chop up or brake. The Mistral models are rare, unmolested ones like this are rocking horse stuff.
V5 in my name looking an for a proper offer or I will rebuild to the same spec, say 600 for paint, 200 on the wheels and 200 in stainless. everything else is elbow grease and good tidy building skills. Outer cases have been chrome plated which is naff so 80 to remove the plate.
The bike is rust free and dead straight
