Sad news, "we can also announce today the acquisition of the shares that Norton did not already own in Spondon Engineering Ltd. This gives Norton 100% control and ownership of the renowned 40 year old motorcycle engineering business, we wish retiring founder and partner Stuart Tiller a great retirement and hope he can find some decent fishing to get his rod bent into while he enjoys some relaxed time… The purchase of Spondon gives Norton increased manufacturing ability with it’s skilled workforce and extra capacity. This investment goes further along the route to increase British made components in house and so keep control of supply chain." See the Facebook page for more info, but be cafeful what you post on an open Forum.. This is a closed forum so should be ok.

very sad indeed, hopefully the guys left will keep their jobs and keep producing stuff. Like you say Kyle, end of an era. You'll still need to be careful what you say on here, non members can't post on here but guests can browse the topics. I'll try and give Stuart a ring during the week and see how he is.

Yup if you do get hold of Stuart give him all our best regards. From what people are saying, most of the lads have taken up jobs with "Norton" and will now work at the Donnington site.

Hi there, does anyone know, where the original jigs and the plans went to? I'am searching for a Spondon Z-retro frame or all the stuff and plans necessary for Gav to build me one. Please contact me or send Gav a message (GIA-Engineereing) Thanks for your help, cheers Luko

I know they binned a lot when Bob left and the plan was to build new ones that were 'internal' jigs, don't know if it ever happened though. Knowing Garner, it'll all have gone in a skip!

Spondon; always helpful, not expensive and could turn stuff around quickly unlike some orgs I could mention!
A bloody tragedy.
Is anyone considering remaking any of their stuff like brake parts all of which is getting very difficult to find in usable condition. Lots of frames out there but the bolt on stuff is getting very rare.

Steve, Stuart Tiller said he has pistons and seals for Spondon calipers if anyone needs them. Unfortunately there is no chance of getting calipers anymore as the company they used to cast them went bust and the moulds were destroyed.

There are a few Spondon 4 pot calipers on ebay at the moment if that helps.
